Slam Dunk proves that alternative music is well and truly on the rise

Once again the alternative music scene gathered for their annual pilgrimage to Hatfield for a day filled with pop punk, emo, metal and punk at its finest across a whopping seven stages. And as always, the most fun was had.

With a line-up that would make Warped Tour blush, Slam Dunk gave us all the Warped tour vibes, mosh pits and sunburns included. On a glorious bank holiday weekend, Hatfield house was bustling with a sold out alternative crowd. And though the arrival may have been tumultuous for some, none of that stress carried over into the arena.

With some freshly reunited bands such as Kids In Glass Houses, Yellowcard and more, it was a sight for sore elder emo eyes, and a strain on our backs and Vans. Tents were overflowing for Yellowcard and Creeper with devoted fans singing their hearts out to every word.

On the Dickies Stage the old school vibes were strong as The Offspring, Bowling For Soup and Less Than Jake made us feel like it was 2001 all over again. And as Enter Shikari saw out the day with a light and laser show to end all lighting shows, the sunset over Hatfield House was laced in happy emo tears and a sense of rebirth.
