Guys n Dolls @ Savoy Theatre, 24/02/2016

Luck be a lady tonight, luck be a lady tonight, luck if you ever were a lady to begin with… la la la. In all seriousness though, Guys n Dolls at the Savoy Theatre will leave you humming all the way home. The story line is classic, Nathan Detroit is in need of money for an illegal dice game that he has to keep hiding from fiancé of 14 years Miss Adelaide. He challenges notorious gambles Sky Masterson to a bet to get missionary Sarah brown to go out on a date with him. He flies her off to Havana and the complications ensue. Girl falls in love, guy does too, but denies it to save face.

The set and costumes are fabulously colourful, the New York accents are almost always spot on and the songs, well they’ll make you want to get up and dance. It’s an age old love story – nice, straight-laced, religious girl falls in love with gambling bad boy. But not one minute of the musical feels run down or old, no wonder it’s one of London’s most beloved musicals.
