Youthmovies reunite for one-off charity show

Oxford quintet Youthmovies are getting back together, well sort of. For one night only, they’ll dig out eh guitars and reunite to raise funds for those in need.

The one-off show will benefit brain tumour charity The Michael Barry Fund and take place on 9 March 2018 at The Bullingdon in Oxford. The evening will feature support handpicked by the band.

Between 2003 and 2010 Youthmovie toured all over, playing ATP, Latitude, curating a stage at Leeds Festival and selling out a headline show in Tokyo before concluding with a final sold out UK farewell tour in March 2010. They released two revered EPs followed by the album Good Nature on Drowned in Sound in March 2008.

As one of Oxford’s most popular bands Youthmovies influenced a generation of local musicians, with Foals, Jonquil, and Chad Valley, among many others, all big fans of the group. Recently the band released an online archive of their recordings at

The Michael Barry Fund is excited to be hosting this unexpected but eagerly anticipated reunion show. The gig will be a fitting tribute to Michael Barry, who passed away in early 2016 at just 35 years of age, after fighting a brain tumour for over two years.

As part of the Oxford music scene Michael ran Abort Retry Fail?, the city’s most popular club night in the mid-noughties. Mixing the best indie, dance, electro and classic post-punk, the club became synonymous with the Oxford scene that spawned Foals, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Chad Valley – and hosted Youthmovies themselves on two occasions.

Get your tickets here from noon this Friday (6 October). All ticket funds will be donated to The Michael Barry Fund.
