The Wombats release another slick record with ‘Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life’

The follow-up to 2015’s Glitterbug is a worthy contender for one of their best records yet.

Liverpool indie rockers The Wombats are set to release their fourth studio album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life on 9 February via Kobalt Music Recordings. The band’s sold out UK tour kicks off on 9 March including a huge headline show at London’s Alexandra Palace.

Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life sees the trio mature in sound and lyrics while still keeping the elements that their fans know and love. Stories of young adulthood, mental health and relationships matched with the band’s rock roots layered underneath their new found love for synths make the record a classic Wombats album.

Arguably, the album’s two singles, Cheetah Tongue and Lemon To A Knife Fight, aren’t the strongest tracks on the album. Black Flamingo and Ice Cream for example have a lot more Oomph to them and feature a fuller instrumental variation – making them stand-out songs of the record.

Overall the production on Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life is flawless and slick, making the record a pleasure to listen to and will be sure to score the band a whole bunch of new fans while not completely alienating their old school following.

They may have evolved from their initial sounds but the band’s catchy riffs and relatable lyrics cement them firmly in the UK’s indie scene with this record.
