The single is taken from their upcoming new record What’s It Like Over There?
Circa Waves have unveiled their brilliantly executed and highly entertaining video for latest single Movies, which sees the band expertly act out scenes from a variety of blockbuster films, from American hit comedy Wayne’s World, to academy-winning classics like A Clockwork Orange and Reservoir Dogs.
Falling in line with the song’s dreamy, fantasy-like retrospective lyrics, the video sees the band engage their finest acting skills, wit and tongue-in-cheek personality. Set in an open top red 60s Mustang, the band play host to a number of roles and scenes from some of the world’s finest films.
Speaking of the making of the video, frontman Kieran Shudall comments; “The Movies video was about us having fun, essentially spending all our filming budget on a dressing up box. Whilst doubling up as a showreel for when we all individually want to break into Hollywood. It is an homage to the Movies we’ve loved growing up. I thought to dress up as Louise would be me putting myself out of my comfort zone, but I’ve never felt more at home. Its a video that celebrates Film and not taking this music biz too fucking serious.”
After getting up close and personal at some of the most intimate shows they’ve ever played, Circa Waves have recently announced their 2019 headline tour. With nine huge shows across the isles, including a night at London’s Roundhouse, the tour further marks the return of one of the country’s most exciting guitar acts.
Recorded in just one month, and renewing their blossoming co-producing relationship with Alan Moulder (Foals, The Killers), What’s It Like Over There? is an album that’s creatively unshackled and refuses to stay still. It fuses the visceral thrill of rock music with a slick pop sound, its themes of modern ennui, emotional fragility and all the inside-outs and upside-downs of relationships making it a record that could only have been made now.
Circa Waves’ third album will become the album their fans can’t live without. It’s another leap forward, another magical reconfiguration of their DNA, a union of emotional depth and intricate songcraft. Circa Waves have taken the theory that they’re allowed to do whatever they want and ran with it. The results are stunning.
