Hunter & The Bear return with new single

Listen to Digital Light now, plus the band have rescheduled their tour for September.

Pumped up and on pulverizing form, Digital Light is an incendiary tour-de-force from a band whose big ambitions and radiant confidence in their new material couldn’t be more apparent. A clash of white-hot guitar lines, crunching power chords and addictive choruses propelled by Will Irvine’s yearning vocals, the track was recorded in Cardiff with producer maestro Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Twin Atlantic, Funeral For A Friend).

A song about the loose connections in friendships made in the digital age, Digital Light questions whether technology is inhibiting the relationships we form with those closest to us and assesses the impact it may be having on our mental health. As frontman Will Irvine explains:

“I wrote it after a night with some mates I hadn’t seen for a while. There was a lot of time spent staring at phones and hardly any catching up done. If it wasn’t phones it was the obnoxiously bright TV in the corner of the pub. I guess I was frustrated that we’re all addicted to this stuff without even knowing it. It gets in the way of real relationships and makes us blind to things we need like love and human contact along with boosting anxiety and mental health problems, especially in our younger generation.”

Digital Light promises to be the first of many new recordings made with Grammy-nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda planned for release this year.

Hunter & The Bear were due to embark on their first UK-wide tour since May 2019, from 24 March to 3 April 2020. These shows have now been rescheduled to September 2020 in wake of the Covid-19 crisis. In a joint statement, the band said:

“Due to the ongoing and ever-changing health situation in the UK and as per government advice the decision has been made to postpone our tour due to start next week. We are gutted to not be playing these shows as we were so excited to show you what we’ve been working on. But the safety of everyone participating from you guys through to our crew and venue staff is paramount. We have been busy working behind the scenes to reschedule all dates for this September. We want to thank everyone who pre-bought tickets. Your continued support is truly humbling. Stay safe and see you all soon, Love Will, Gareth, Chris, and John”
