Slipping into a soulful cadence on the track, the singer’s dusty delivery evoke sixties Southern California spirit by way of Nashville. A rustle of slide guitar punctuates delicate acoustic strumming as she croons, “When I’m wearing my black jeans, maybe you won’t even recognize me, and you know I won’t just take a backseat.”
Lucie Silvas said of the song, “Black Jeans is somewhat of a centerpiece for this new record, being able to lay back a bit and find perspective on everything around me and my place in it. Feels like an escape of some kind – but not running away from anything, just running towards something new and good. It sounds like I’ve always felt when I sing but until now, I didn’t know how to put into a song.”
Following a string of sold-out international tour dates, Silvas returns to the road on Anderson East’s Encore World Tour in February. Her combination of retro pop sonics, narrative storytelling, and countrified spirit will undoubtedly electrify audiences coast-to-coast.
